Storytelling
As a Celtic storyteller, I enjoy sharing my Celtic stories about people whose experiences between their birth and their passing offer riveting tales.
Writing my own stories, I specialise in telling the tales of ordinary Celtic people whose life adventures have enthralled me.
I know these people from my Celtic countries of Scotland and Ireland; from my nursing career, especially in palliative care; and from talking with others interested in the Celtic stories of ordinary people.
My interest in telling these stories comes from my upbringing where Celtic storytelling was more a way of life than a performance art. Nonetheless, I also trained in Celtic storytelling and mime in Scotland and subsequently in Canada as part of my development as a professional Celtic storyteller.
Committed to storytelling as a way of living, I am actively involved with the local groups: the Vancouver Storytellers and the Vancouver Society of Storytelling. In addition, I am a past president of the national Storytellers of Canada-Conteurs du Canada (SC-CC.)
I also use storytelling in my writings; nationally, for the SC-CC newsletter; locally, for Winds of Change, a business magazine and TV program in the Lower Mainland of BC and the Northern Pacific of US.
As an experienced Celtic storyteller, I am a featured teller locally in Vancouver, nationally across Canada and internationally in Europe. I perform at a variety of events, concerts and festivals.
My Celtic storytelling features my unique stories: weaving Celtic understanding with the intriguing events of people’s life stories; all delivered with verve and humour to the delight and satisfaction of audiences.
